By Katie Diederichs
Traveling with a friend means adventures, cocktails, and inside jokes that will have you in fits of laughter well after your return. We recently posted an article about how overseas travel will make couples stronger, and the same can certainly be true for friendships. For others, itineraries mean an hour-by-hour plan of what you'll be doing, where you'll be eating, and when you'll take bathroom breaks. There truly is no right or wrong way to plan (or not plan) a trip, and both types of travel can be equally rewarding. You'll both learn something -- even if it is how much you hate traveling with (or without) a plan.

25 best sustainable beauty products that are good for the soul (and the planet)

By Juliet Kinsman, Wednesday November
When it comes to choosing skincare and wellbeing products that aren’t just good for us, but are great for the wider world, there’s much to consider. What’s their provenance and does the manufacturer use an ethical supply chain that hasn’t harmed animals? Is the company’s carbon footprint off the charts due to long-distance distribution, or does the maker offset emissions? These terms are as wishy-washy as ‘green’ and ‘kind’ – what we want to look for is trackable statements of positive impact and credible certifications from respected third parties, surely? It’s rare to find a product that ticks every sustainability box, absolutely, but we can pick make-up or skincare that’s a hero in some way.

All Alone in the Alps: Hiking with the Cows High Above Gimmelwald, Switzerland

By Cameron Hewitt
Gimmelwald — that perfect alpine village, perched on a meadow-draped cliff facing a panoply of cut-glass peaks — is a sleepy time warp…most of the time. The cows’ owners hire cowhands to tend the herd for 100 days each summer in the high alps. Below my cow pie-scuffed shoes are the rooftops of an idyllic alpine village: Gimmelwald. Scanning the rooftops below me, I can see that this little village — normally sleepy — is a beehive of activity. Out on the front porch sits perhaps the only relaxed person in Gimmelwald: Tim, the Englishman who’s been Walter’s trusty right-hand-man for the last 20 years or so.
